What does it mean to mulitply and divide fractions?

Fractions are only parts of a whole.  That means that multiplying fractions is repeating a part a partial number of times.  Dividing fractions means you are trying to figure out how many times one part will fit into another one.

1/2 x 3/4 = 3/8 means that you are finding half of 3/4
